We tried Patachou's vegan "omelet"

After six weeks of sports bars, I needed a balm for my french fry-laden soul.

Where to go: Patachou's new location in the Stutz, which puts a location of Indy's favorite "student union for adults" within walking distance of my house. The literal dream.

The vibe: This newest Patachou is all dressed up, painted a moody blue-green with dark furniture and a large mural along one wall.

  • It's gorgeous and decidedly less casual than other locations.

What to order: Patachou is known for its omelets, but did you know they have a vegan version? A garbanzo flour "crepe" is topped with hummus, black beans, cashew ricotta, arugula, avocado, salsa and a vegan spinach-jalapeño pesto.

  • The "crepe" is a sturdy vehicle to deliver the creamy goodness of the hummus, rich "cheese" and flavorful pesto.
  • Even though I'm not vegan and enjoy their regular omelets, I'd definitely get this again!

Cost: $14

If you go: 1060 N. Capitol Ave.

  • Open 7am to 3pm Monday-Friday and 8am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
