Zoom in: New murals are popping up across town, oversized soccer balls have landed in public spaces, and countdown billboards and airport signs are building hype ahead of Houston's first match, now just a month away.

The big picture: There's also a broader marketing push happening, with ads promoting Houston appearing on streaming platforms like Netflix, Peacock and Paramount+, plus Facebook and Instagram, Michael Heckman, president of Houston First Corporation, tells reporters.
Those ads, with a message of Houston being a world in a city — are being pushed "all over the world … through many different channels and media," Heckman says often in places locals may not see because the campaign is aimed at visitors, not Houstonians.
