2026 FIFA World Cup Houston schedule: Full list of matches and teams

State of play: Houston will host seven matches at NRG Stadium — to be renamed Houston Stadium for the World Cup — five in the group stage, one in the Round of 32 and one in the Round of 16.

• In addition to hosting Portugal, sixth in the FIFA world ranking, Houston will welcome seventh-ranked Netherlands and ninth-ranked Germany in group-stage matches. And in the round of 32, perennial powerhouse Brazil (fifth in the world) could play in Houston if it wins its group.

Group stage matches being played in Houston (in central time):

• Sunday, June 14 at noon - Match 10 - Group E - Germany vs. Curaçao
• Wednesday, June 17 at noon- Match 23 - Group K - Portugal vs. FIFA Playoff 1 (Jamaica, New Caledonia, Congo)
• Saturday, June 20 at noon - Match 35 - Group F - Netherlands vs. UEFA Playoff B (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Albania)
• Tuesday, June 23 at noon- Match 47 - Group K - Portugal vs. Uzbekistan
• Friday, June 26 at 7pm- Match 65 - Group H - Cabo Verde vs. Saudi Arabia

Round of 32 matches in Houston:

• Monday, June 29 - Winner of Group C vs. Runner-up of Group F

• Group C is Brazil, Morocco, Haiti, Scotland.
• Group F is the Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia, UEFA Playoff Winner B

Round of 16 match in Houston:

• Saturday, July 4 - Winner of Match 73 vs. winner of Match 75
• Match 73 is the Group A runner-up vs. Group B runner-up.
• Match 75 is the Group F winner vs. Group C runner-up

The intrigue: Houston will host at least three first-time qualifiers (Cape Verde, Uzbekistan and Curaçao).
