Take it from us: Houston can still bring holiday cheer even if it's expected to be near 80 degrees this weekend.
To help you find the spirit of the holidays, we combined our personal favorite things to do.
Worthy of your time: The city has holiday-themed outdoor events around every corner, including screenings of Christmas movies at Houston's Rooftop Cinema, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston's Christmas Village at Buffalo Bayou and ice skating at Discovery Green.
- If it's too muggy outdoors, check out some live shows like "A Christmas Carol" at the Alley Theatre or "The Nutcracker" by Houston Ballet.
The Bayou City lights up for the holidays, and the warm-ish weather means it won't be too frigid to walk through the light displays.
- Take stroll through Daikin Park, drive through the popular River Oaks neighborhood or walk through the impressive Houston Zoo Lights exhibition.
Yes, and: Houston's far reaches offer their own Christmas charm.
- There's a Christmas theme park just north of Conroe, Fort Bend County's Magical Winter Lights and Santa's Wonderland in College Station.
Fuel up: Houston has a copious amount of delicious Tex-Mex eateries where you can eat your Christmas tamales, including La Mexicana Restaurant in Montrose.
Holiday sips: There's also a large variety of holiday-themed drinks for the 21-and-up crowds.
- We really want to try Winnie's in Midtown, which has a Christmas-themed pop-up cocktail bar with over-the-top holiday beverages.
The bottom line: Whether you're looking for some family fun or special but affordable experiences, Houston has you covered.
