Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested more than 3,500 undocumented people in Southeast Texas during the government shutdown, from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12, per the agency.
Zoom in: A 10-day operation from Oct. 22–31 led to 1,505 arrests.
That's nearly double the number of arrests made during a week-long August operation (822) and triple from a February operation (543) — underscoring the ramping up of immigration enforcement.
