Apple Maps and Daikin Park

👋 Jay here! If you like perusing Apple Maps for fun like I do, you'll notice the 3D rendering of Daikin Park still reads Minute Maid Park.

The intrigue: Apple Maps incorporated 3D renderings of Houston landmarks in 2023, including the downtown ballpark, Waterwall Park and Space Center Houston.

• At the time, the ballpark was still named after Minute Maid, about a year before the naming rights were secured by Japan-based Daikin.

Now, it stands as a relic of what Houstonians knew the ballpark to be called for 22 years — and what some reluctant fans still call it.
