👋 Shafaq here! Continuing with cool eats ahead as summer looms, I went to Treats of Mexico for a mangonada.
Dig in: Previously in the East End, the shop is now in Spring Branch. Loyal customers — like my friend who introduced me to Treats of Mexico — continue to come for the delicious frozen treats and sweet owners.
The store offers snacks, candy, ice cream flavors like chocolate abuelita ($4) and natural fruit ice, like mango. Plus, it also has some clothes and other Mexican delights.
My experience: I planned to get just mango ice, but once I saw my friend's mangonada ($5-9 depending on size), I had to upgrade.
It was sweet, spicy, tangy — perfectly balanced and packed with flavor.
My friend said shaved frozen fruit hits harder than a snow cone — and Treats of Mexico does it best. I have to agree.
