Netflix announces premiere date for "Mo" Season 2

• Drawing from Amer's life, the show tells the story of a Palestinian refugee navigating the challenges of seeking asylum while juggling humor, family and identity.

State of play: Season 2, arriving more than two years after the first season, picks up with Mo desperate to secure asylum and make it back to Houston in time for his family's asylum hearing.

• The eight new 30-minute episodes, filmed in Houston, promise the same mix of storytelling and comedic relief.

What to expect: According to Netflix, Mo's "gonna need all the hustle and charm he can muster." 

• "Little does he know that the journey home is just the start of his troubles, and there's a new guy in town ready to steal both his longtime love, Maria — and his falafel taco recipe."
