Dig in: Haraz Coffee House in Sugar Land does what Yemeni coffee and tea does best: It highlights rich flavors like cardamom, saffron, ginger, cinnamon and pistachio.Â
The vibe: The cafe has a distinct Middle Eastern and Muslim aesthetic, stays open late, and is a popular spot for studying and remote work.
Best bites: Haraz has quickly become a regular spot for me. I'm still working my way through the menu, but the adeni chai stands out with its strong cardamom and cinnamon flavors. The Harazi coffee and saffron latte are also cozy all around.Â
As for desserts, the rose milk cake is a must, especially for tres leches fans. I also enjoyed the pistachio mosaic, which tastes like rich pistachio fudge. While the cheesecake looks tempting, the specialty desserts are the real highlights.
