🥯 Joe here, after another stop on my bagel tour.
Dig in: The Bagel Factory in Southfield came highly recommended from reader Andy K., who made sure to let us know that he's "eaten bagels all over Detroit."
State of play: Operating out of a takeout-only space inside a strip mall at Telegraph and 12 Mile roads, the Bagel Factory keeps things basic with a wide variety of bagels and cream cheeses.
- No fancy sandwiches or lattes. Just deliciously balanced bagels.
What I ordered: Salt bagel toasted with jalapeño cream cheese ($3.30).
The verdict: I grimaced when I opened the bag and saw my bagel's crooked cut.
- No matter — the bagel had a crispy bite and chewy interior that neared perfection.
- The cream cheese tasted fresh, though it could've used a little more jalapeño.
