Detroit's Thanksgiving parade brings new floats, stars

⏰ When and where: The 3-mile parade route starts near the DIA at Woodward Avenue and Kirby Street at 8:45am.

• The march south takes about 90 minutes and ends at Woodward and Congress Street.
• WDIV Local 4 will broadcast the event from 10am-noon.

🧑‍✈️ Grand marshals and celebrities: Mayor Mike Duggan and journalist and musician Devin Scillian are this year's grand marshals.

• Comedian and actor Sam Richardson, Christopher "Shooter McGavin" McDonald and former Lions running back Dexter Bussey are among others who will be there.

🎭 What's new: Eight floats built by The Parade Company.

• An opening performance of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King" musical set to perform here next March.
• A new "big head" of Tigers legend Kirk Gibson.

🚘 Parking: The city's parking department recommends the Ford Underground Garage, 30 E. Jefferson Ave., and the Eastern Market Garage, 2727 Riopelle St.

🚈 Transit: The People Mover will run from 6am-7pm on the holiday, with free hot cocoa and handwarmers at the Grand Circus Park station from 7-10am.

• The QLine, however, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

🏃 Also happening: The downtown Turkey Trot starts at 7:30am.

• The Lions host the Green Bay Packers at 1pm at Ford Field.
