Dirty Shake brings neighborhood vibes to Cass Corridor

Dirty Shake opened at Forest and Second avenues last week in a bid to become Cass Corridor's new neighborhood watering hole.

Why it matters: The menu has the basics — $11 burgers, $4 beers and other staples — along with boozy shakes, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

For warmer months, there's room for 50 people on its outdoor patio.

State of play: The restaurant comes from the hospitality team behind Freya, Chartreuse, and The Oakland in Ferndale.

Dirty Shake is designed to be less formal. The bar's three TVs are likely to be showing local sports teams or episodes of "Detroiters" or "Twin Peaks," the restauranteurs say.

What they're saying: "This part of Midtown is one of the few neighborhoods where people who lived here 15 or 20 years ago are still around," co-owner Sandy Levine said in a press release.

"We want to honor that history while also welcoming students and newcomers. This is a place where all kinds of people can gather, have a good time and make it their own."

Open 11:30am-midnight, Sunday-Thursday; 11:30am-2am, Friday and Saturday.
