👋 Annalise here! I'm trying to keep up with Dearborn's mouthwatering, ever-changing dessert scene.
With Ramadan underway and continuing through March 29, many restaurants and bakeries are open late for families breaking fast once the sun sets.
The latest treat purveyor I visited is among those with expanded hours. Masri Sweets on Schaefer Road in Dearborn is open 9am-12am.
The around 35-year-old, family-owned bakery carries on the Masri family's fresh-made pastry traditions that started in Palestine in the early 1900s, according to its website.
It sells both individual sweets and large trays for gatherings.
Dig in: Masri was decorated with banners and hanging moons and stars when I visited Friday. The shop serves various baklava, plus tidily decorated cakes, cookies, and specialty cheesy, crunchy and gooey kunafa naime.
I ordered a tray of a dozen baklava ($11) and a biscoff cup ($3) — affordable and strikingly delicious.
