Grey Ghost owners to open new Ferndale fast-casual restaurant

The owners of upscale Detroit restaurants Grey Ghost and Basan are opening their first fast-casual spot this summer.

The big picture: Four Man Ladder Hospitality, which also owns Second Best bar, plans to showcase its much-loved burger recipe from Grey Ghost at the yet-to-be-named restaurant in Ferndale, according to a press release.

• This will be the hospitality group's first location that isn't around Detroit's arena district, marking a strategic shift from capitalizing on traffic from games and events.

Between the lines: The mostly takeout spot on Woodward Ave. will have a small menu that also includes chicken sandwiches and sides.

Catch up quick: Four Man Ladder's first restaurant, Grey Ghost, opened in 2016 in Brush Park, earning ample recognition. The company expanded with a bar across the street and then another high-end restaurant, Basan, in 2022.

What's next: The owners hope their fast-casual concept is successful enough to expand to multiple locations.
