With its approachable menu and friendly staff, Que Huong is an excellent option.
The big picture: Welcome to our first installment of what will be an occasional feature on restaurants, bars and other eateries in Detroit's suburbs.
What to expect: Like other Asian and Vietnamese restaurants in the Oakland County suburb, Que Huong is located in a nondescript strip mall on John R Road.
There are about a dozen tables inside, with menus pinned under glass tabletops for immediate perusing when you sit.
🍜 What I ordered: In the middle of last week's heat wave, I bypassed a hot bowl of pho for a cooler rice noodle dish, Bun Thit Nuong ($11.50).
It came with grilled pork, carrots, daikon, cucumbers, fresh mint, other veggies and a side of fish sauce.
I also got an order of Goi Cuon rolls with steamed pork and shrimp with peanut dipping sauce ($5).
💭 My thought bubble: The food came out super fast and everything was delicious.
Next time, I'm definitely going to try one of the $5 banh mi sandwiches.
If you go: 30820 John R Road.
