Our hope is that within the next year, sensible legislation can be agreed upon and enacted to protect this type of product for all our customers."
— Big Grove spokesperson Bryan Farrell, on the future of Climbing Kites
State of play: Congress rallied to pass a spending bill that ended the record-long government shutdown, but it came with a price: much of the legal cannabis industry.
The provision reversed the legal sale of hemp products outlined by the 2018 Farm Bill, which included many THC-infused products.
What's next: At least for the next year, Big Grove expects to continue selling Climbing Kites, Farrell said in a statement to Axios. The growing brewery purchased majority share of Climbing Kites from Lua Brewing in 2024.
There is a one-year implementation delay for the hemp ban, which allows the USDA, the FDA, and states to update their rules before enforcement begins in late 2026.
