The new logo at Des Moines International Airport (DSM) is still flying high, but our readers aren't fully convinced it wasn't done with our northern neighbors at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in mind.
Catch up quick: DSM unveiled the logo last month as it prepares for a new terminal anticipated to open in 2027.
Axios DSM readers initially indicated high support for the new look but one reader noted similarities to MSP, which prompted our survey this week.
Logos: DSM and MSP airports
By the numbers: Of the 467 Axios DSM and Twin Cities readers who responded, around 54% indicated the new logo is original enough for their liking.
A third chose our maybe option; the rest indicated the logos were too similar for coincidence.
The bottom line: DSM's new logo is taking off — even if some passengers think it made a layover in Minneapolis.
💬 1 notable thought to go: Axios Twin Cities reader Abbe Ceynar chimed in with a different kind of identity crisis:
"DSM in my mind is the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Therefore, flying into DSM is just plain crazy," she tells Axios.
