East Village gets ice cream shop; Ingersoll OfficeMax closes

Closing

✂️ OfficeMax off Ingersoll is shutting down and advertising a "store closing" sale.

Why it matters: Trader Joe's is one of the retailers being courted for the business development area, Jake Christensen, president of Christensen Development, previously told Axios.

Details: The leases of OfficeMax and Dollar General near 28th Street and Ingersoll Avenue expire this year and won't be renewed.

Opening

🍦 The Creamery, a popular ice cream shop in Polk City, added another location in the East Village, per Meet DSM.

• The shop, in the former Nosh location, offers hard-pack and soft-serve ice cream, shakes, malts, Dole Whip and slushies.

🥐 La Mie and the Des Moines Art Center are launching The Art Center Café, "coming soon." The food offerings will be similar to the flagship shop off 42nd Street, including pastries, salads, sandwiches, pastas and soups.

Changing

👀 Blue Shark Ale House off Ingersoll is transitioning to a more adult-themed restaurant called Perfect 10, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
