Caitlin Clark was selected as the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever last night.
State of play: The selection is no surprise as the former Iowa guard garnered national attention for the "Caitlin Clark effect," writes Axios' Sareen Habeshian.
Indiana's pick has already caused an uptick in Fever interest and ticket prices, per ESPN.
Meanwhile, Iowa's Kate Martin was selected by the Las Vegas Aces in the second round of the draft.
💬 Our thought bubble: If this basketball thang doesn't work out, Clark could probably land a regular gig on "Saturday Night Live."
