Rigby will be the first dog adopted from Des Moines' new animal shelter during a ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow.
The pooch was picked up as a stray and is around 10 years old.
City Councilperson Carl Voss and his wife, Susan, are giving him a forever home.
If you go: Celebrations for the new $14.1 million facility start at 9:30am, followed by an adoption night hosted by the Animal Rescue League of Iowa that continues until 6pm.
Adoption fees for cats and dogs six months or older are 50% off during Saturday's event.
