Vice President JD Vance to speak in Denver

Vice President JD Vance is making a trip to Denver on Thursday after delivering the commencement address at the Air Force Academy.

Why it matters: The high-profile visit is a relatively rare stop for a top Republican leader in solid-blue Colorado.

Driving the news: Vance is scheduled to speak at All Trucks and Trailer Parts (1350 W. 62nd Parkway) at 12:30pm.

Doors open at 10:30am, according to an invite posted on Facebook and confirmed by the chair of the Denver Republican Party.
The Denver event will follow Vance's appearance earlier Thursday in Colorado Springs for the AFA graduation at Falcon Stadium.

Between the lines: Vance recently drew attention for suggesting that former Mesa County clerk Tina Peters should receive compensation from the Trump administration's new "anti-weaponization" fund.

Peters, a prominent election denier, was convicted and sentenced last year to nine years in prison for her role in a voting-system security breach tied to the 2020 vote.
Democratic Gov. Jared Polis commuted her sentence on May 15. She is set to be released June 1.
