The big picture: Coffee prices rose by 7% year-over-year in Colorado, pushing the median price per cup to $3.75, per new Toast data shared with Axios.
Why it matters: Prices jumped in almost every U.S. state, but the uptick leaves Colorado with some of the priciest coffee in the country.
Between the lines: Coffee is among many commodities affected both by general inflation and the Trump administration's import tariffs.
Driving the news: The median nationwide cost of a regular coffee hit $3.52 this August, Toast says, up 2.9% from the same time last year.
Zoom in: Hot coffee prices rose the most in South Carolina (+9.6%) and Nevada (+9%).
- Prices in Montana and Idaho stayed flat, so you can still score a $3 cup there.
What's next: The Trump administration recently opened the door to lower tariffs on coffee and more, Axios' Ben Berkowitz reports — but that's dependent on dealmaking with other countries.
