Colorado cemented its blue status by giving Vice President Harris a resounding win in the 2024 presidential contest.
Why it matters: Colorado's 10 electoral votes are a key boost to the Democratic candidate as she looks for a pathway to 270.
State of play: The Associated Press declared Harris the winner in Colorado about an hour after polls closed at 7pm.
What they're saying: Sarah Johnson, a social worker who lives in Denver, voted for Harris. "We need somebody that is going to bring us together and not tear us apart," she told Axios Denver on Tuesday.
Between the lines: The Harris team ran a concerted campaign in Colorado to get out the vote, but top organizers spent part of the final week in Arizona, a swing state.
Trump visited Aurora for a campaign rally in October but did not run an organized campaign in the state.
By the numbers: The most recent poll, conducted Oct. 28-30 by Democratic firm Keating Research, showed Harris with a 53% to 41% advantage against Trump.
Flashback: Trump twice lost Colorado — in 2016 by 4.9 percentage points and in 2020 by a 13.5-point margin.
