Before the drama went down on Wednesday night's "Love is Blind" reunion, Axios got a few minutes to talk to Season 10's dream couple.
⚠️ Spoiler warning: Potential spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the reunion or previous episodes.
Catch up quick: Ohio State professor Victor St. John and speech pathologist Christine Hamilton got married during the season finale, filmed last year.
- If you've been watching, you won't be surprised to hear the two are still married and still "nauseatingly perfect," as host Nick Lachey puts it.
- Hamilton is from Northeast Ohio, but the pair now lives in Columbus.
An edited version of our conversation:
Axios: What was in "the box?" (Referencing a secret wedding day gift from Christine.)
Christine, laughing: You can take that one.
Vic: I'll just say it's something that draws you together as a couple intimately.
Axios: Vic, How have your students and colleagues reacted to you being on the show?
Vic: The students have been super supportive, almost like it's a football game, in terms of how the Buckeyes roll.
- The colleagues, I think they're just seeing a more vulnerable side. A lot of academics have been like, "I like that you're showing that we have other sides to us and you represented us well."
Axios: Has anybody given you a hard time?
Vic, laughing: One person raised their hand in the middle of class and was like, "Uhh … I saw you on my For You page." I was like, "We're not doing that here."
Axios: What are your favorite Columbus date spots?
Christine: Forno is the first thing that comes to mind, I feel like it's kind of our go-to spot.
Axios: Christine, do you miss anything about living in Cleveland?
Christine: I love Cleveland, and I love to go back and visit. My mom's still there. I think the only thing I really miss is having the NBA nearby. I'm a big basketball fan.
- But now Ohio State is so big that I feel like it feeds that in me. I'm really happy in Columbus so far.
Axios: Are you still connected with the rest of the cast?
Vic: We just broke bread the other day with Haramol and Jess. Jordan and Haramol check in on me and I check in on them.
Christine: We have a group chat, me, Jess, Emma, Brittany and Amber. It's a really good support system. We've been lucky to create some really good friendships.
Axios: Are you being recognized locally or sought out for public appearances?
Vic: Right now, we've been living like secret husband and secret wife, so we haven't been exploring. So we're about to actually see what that feels like.
- Even our marriage group — we had to lie to them about how we met.
Christine: We haven't even been seen together at our apartment. You have to strategically go, "You go out the front door, I'll leave five minutes later."
- We get to go to church for the first time together post-show being aired this Sunday, so that'll be really fun.
