A dozen OSU women's hockey players head to the Olympics

Context: Buckeye representation on the biggest stage shouldn't be a shock, as the team won national titles in 2022 and 2024.

🌰 Current Buckeyes:

🇺🇸 Joy Dunne, a junior forward representing the U.S., scored the 2024 title-winning goal and was the first Buckeye named collegiate rookie of the year.

🇫🇮 Sanni Vanhanen, a freshman forward representing Finland, was the Finnish women's league rookie of the year and playoff MVP in 2023.

🇸🇪 Jenna Raunio, a freshman defender representing Sweden, has experience playing in youth international tournaments.

🇸🇪 Mira Jungåker, a sophomore defender representing Sweden, has been to three Women's World Championships and is a 2025 OSU Scholar Athlete.

🇸🇪 Hilda Svensson, a freshman forward representing Sweden, led the national team in scoring at the 2024 World Championships.

🇺🇸 United States: Cayla Barnes (class of 2024) and Hannah Bilka (2024).

🇨🇭 Switzerland: Andrea Braendli (2022).

🇨🇦 Canada: Jenn Gardiner (2024), Sophie Jaques (2023), Emma Maltais (2023) and Natalie Spooner (2012).

Fun fact: Buckeyes are on the roster of five of the top six favorites to win gold.

Plus: Cleveland Heights native Laila Edwards won the U.S. women's player of the year award as a forward in 2024, but has transitioned to defense on the Olympic team.

• Athens' Gwyneth Philips is the team's backup goalie who won gold at the 2025 World Championships in Czechia.
