Laila Edwards' Olympic call: Cleveland Heights native makes hockey history

• Edwards, a senior at the University of Wisconsin, played youth hockey in Cleveland Heights before moving to Rochester, New York to join hockey powerhouse Bishop Kearney High School.

What they're saying: "It still hasn't really kicked in yet," Edwards, 21, told the Associated Press.

• "Getting that call is like a dream come true. Always had dreams of playing in the pros, but the biggest dream was to go to the Olympics, for sure."

The big picture: The women's national team is favored to win gold.

• The preliminary round begins Feb. 5. The Olympics will air on NBC's TV and streaming networks.
