Franklinton's boutique hotel The Junto joins the holiday pop-up craze this year with a pair of themed experiences for festive friends.
Why it matters: Seasonal pop-up bars are booming, as struggling restaurants and bars look to capitalize on Christmas revelry.
What's inside: The Junto decided one holiday pop-up wasn't enough, so it added another.
- Downstairs, the new Santa Baby is "Santa's place of mischief."
- Upstairs, the Brass Eye rooftop bar has become Winter Haus for a second year as an indoor-outdoor collection of private greenhouses for groups.
The vibe: Each location has its own distinct atmosphere.
- The new Santa Baby is swanky and dimly lit, bathing guests in red lights and the smells of smoked cocktails and tableside s'mores.
- Winter Haus is more of a gathering space, with heated structures for rent and fuzzy seats and blankets.
What to try: Santa Baby's special cocktail menu is equal parts boozy and jolly.
- OK, maybe a little more boozy — the cocktails are strong and taste unequivocally like Christmas.
- The "Checking It Twice" espresso martini is particularly dangerous.
- The baked brie and charcuterie board are excellent finger food pairings.
How it works: Find Santa Baby's entrance behind the red bow on Belle Street.
- Book a two-hour Winter Haus experience with a $250 food and beverage minimum on weekdays and $350 on weekends.
Stop by: Santa Baby takes walk-ins and reservations 5pm-1am Thursday-Saturday and private events Sunday-Wednesday through Jan. 1.
