While exploring King-Lincoln Bronzeville, I found one of the best soups I've ever had at the Lincoln Cafe.
What I ate: A creamy, chunky, hearty bowl of shrimp and corn chowder with potatoes ($7).
- Plus: A pretty good turkey burger, with swiss and chips ($9).
- … but seriously, I can't stop thinking about that soup!
The vibes: The cozy, laid-back cafe across from the Lincoln Theatre serves breakfast, lunch and espresso drinks, and doubles as an event space some evenings.
- Before I finished my meal, the friendly staff suggested a coffee to go — and I couldn't resist.
- "You're gonna like this," the owner insisted.
☕ I hit the road with a toasty, aptly named "hit the road" latte ($5.50), with white chocolate, raspberry, and whipped cream on top.
- Of course, the owner was right.
