Your Thanksgiving travel plans may cost a little less than your summer road trip.
Driving the news: Gas prices locally and in the rest of the country have been dropping consistently since about July, per data from tracking app GasBuddy.
Zoom in: The average price per gallon in the Columbus metro area was $2.98 to start this month, reaching below $3 for the first time since January.
What they're saying: Gas prices have fallen below $3 in more than half of U.S. states and should stay that way through the holidays, GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan said in a statement.
"Gas prices have fallen nearly 70 cents from the summer high to their lowest level since 2021, and should provide some relief for Thanksgiving travelers," he said.
