Clevelanders may be over "The Mistake on the Lake" reputation but we're still prime material for a roast.
Why it matters: The city may feel down with summer ending and the Browns playing like the Browns.
- So we asked ChatGPT to roast Cleveland in hopes that it might put a smile on our faces.
The big picture: The idea came from an Instagram reel of someone asking the AI chatbot to pretend it's a comedian and roast the people of a city.
- Our Axios colleagues in Philadelphia and Seattle gave it a shot, with hilarious results.
Ouch: ChatGPT immediately hit us where it hurts.
- "Ah, Cleveland, Ohio — the city that proudly asks, 'Why stop at rock bottom when you can build a whole Hall of Fame on it?'"
- "You guys had LeBron, twice, and you still couldn't keep him. He looked at Cleveland like a bad Tinder date — showed up, gave it a chance, then ghosted you for Miami's beaches and L.A.'s lights."
🏈 Sports woes stayed the focus.
- "The Browns should change their name to the Oranges because they're always getting peeled."
- "The Cavaliers act like they're allergic to defense, and let's not even talk about the Guardians, who seem to have taken 'Guardians of the Galaxy' a bit too literally — drifting aimlessly in space and time."
We will apparently never live down the infamous Cuyahoga River fire of 1969.
- "Think about that for a second. Your river was so toxic it decided to take up arson as a hobby."
- "It's like Mother Nature herself is trying to burn down Cleveland, one flaming body of water at a time."
Yes, but: It's hard to disagree with ChatGPT's take on the weather.
- "Cleveland winters are like an endurance test no one signed up for."
- "It's like 'Game of Thrones,' but without the dragons — just ice, disappointment, and a vague hope that next year might not suck as much."
🎸 Then, it was back to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
- "But hey, at least you've got the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, right? A museum dedicated to musicians who all probably played Cleveland and thought, 'Well, guess that's the low point of the tour.'"
The bottom line: Cleveland has a history of successful comedians, from Steve Harvey and Arsenio Hall to Drew Carey and Yvette Nicole Brown.
- ChatGPT made them proud.
