SummerSlam brings local stars, wrestling fans to Cleveland

Zoom in: The show will feature homegrown talent, most notably YouTube star-turned-wrestler Logan Paul defending the United States Championship against fan-favorite LA Knight.

• You can also expect Parma native Mike "The Miz" Mizanin and Lakewood native Johnny Gargano to make appearances. Gargano is one-half of the current WWE tag team champions.

What they're saying: Gargano recently told pro-wrestling blog Cageside Seats he would be happy doing "anything" at SummerSlam.

• "Whether it's defending the tag team titles or just popping out and waving to the crowd, I don't care," Gargano said. "I wanna something wrestling related in that stadium. And I will die happy."

🎤 Adding to the star power is country singer Jelly Roll, who will perform his songs "Dead End Road" and "Liar," which have been used in promos for SummerSlam.

• The event will stream live on Peacock with the "Kickoff Show" at 7pm, followed by the main card at 8pm.

The intrigue: The announcement of this event followed last year's SummerSlam at Detroit's Ford Field, which set a gate record for any non-WrestleMania, with $8.5 million.

• The Detroit show was also the most-watched SummerSlam in WWE history, a record that could be broken this year when it streams live on Peacock.
