Don't look now, but the Guardians are the top team in baseball.

Driving the news: Cleveland enters its three-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night sporting the best record (16-6) in the majors.

Why it matters: Not much was expected from the Guardians after finishing third in the American League Central last season.

By the numbers: Cleveland's offense has been a big surprise, posting a run differential of +52, its most through the first 22 games since 1959, according to MLB.com.

  • At the forefront are leadoff hitter Steven Kwan, who is batting .358, and first baseman Josh Naylor, who is hitting .325 with six home runs.

Between the lines: All of this is happening under first-year manager Stephen Vogt, who has big shoes to fill following Terry Francona's retirement.

What's next: Tonight's game starts at 6:10pm at Progressive Field.

  • Tickets are still available starting at $15.
