Charlotte will be the center of the golf world when it hosts the PGA Championship this spring.
Why it matters: Hosting one of golf's four majors means Charlotte gets more attention, visitors and revenue.
The latest: Spectators were not allowed at Quail Hollow Club for the PGA Championship Monday "due to the anticipated inclement weather approaching," according to a statement from organizers.
- Monday tickets and parking will be honored at the PGA Championship for Tuesday or Wednesday, tournament director Jason Soucy said on Charlotte Talks.
State of play: The PGA Championship will run May 12-18 at Quail Hollow Club in south Charlotte.
- It attracts the best golfers in the world, plus sellout crowds and celebrities.
By the numbers: The last time the tournament was here in 2017, the estimated economic impact was roughly $100 million for the Charlotte region, according to the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.
- Around 200,000 people are expected this time around, with more than 40,000 on peak days. Tournament director Jason Soucy says he's confident the PGA Championship will sell out this year.
Here's what to know before you go:
Tickets: Grounds tickets (Championship+) start between $76 and $282, depending on the day. Up to two kids age 15 and younger get in free per adult ticket.
- Grounds tickets are officially sold out for Friday and Saturday, an event spokesperson confirmed to Axios.
- Find gate hours for each day here.
Dig in: A Championship+ ticket includes unlimited food and beverages. Your serving is limited to one entrée, snack and non-alcoholic drink each time you visit a concession stand, but you can go back as many times as you want.
- Alcohol will be available for purchase in designated areas.

Transportation: Monday-Friday, people can park at Carowinds and the Park Expo Conference Center.
- Saturday-Sunday, people can park at the Park Expo Conference Center and Ballantyne Corporate Place.
- Each parking pass is $19 per day. Shuttles will then take you to and from Quail Hollow Club.
- You can also take the Lynx Blue Line. Your stop will be the Sharon Road West Station and then you'll board a CATS bus that'll take you to Quail Hollow Club. Your PGA Championship ticket gets you free CATS rides. Buses will run 30 minutes before event gates open, and 30 minutes after they close. Do not park at the Sharon Road West Station.
- Rideshare pick up and drop off will be located adjacent to Quail Hollow Club at 3700 Gleneagles Road.
- You can walk to the event, but you must cross Gleneagles Road at designated points or the pedestrian bridge.
- If you have ADA parking needs, reach out to [email protected]. The designated ADA lot will be at Central Piedmont Community College's Harper Campus.
Where to stay: Airbnbs in the neighborhoods surrounding Quail Hollow Club during this golf major have mostly been gobbled up. But there are options available within driving distance to paid parking spots where you can catch shuttle to the golf course.

- Other local options include 704 Shop T-shirts and Glory Days Apparel's golf collection
- Be smart about your footwear. If you don't feel confident walking at least one mile in those shoes, switch to something that won't give you blisters.
- There will also be a massive merchandise tent at the tournament.
- The PGA Championship will debut a pop-up shop at Victoria Yards (209 E 7th St.) in Uptown during the tournament from 10am-8pm daily, featuring select PGA Championship merchandise.

What's new: If you were here for the PGA Championship in 2017, you'll see a new entrance along Gleneagles Road, which allows for shuttle and ride-share access.
- There will be a new viewing area for the 13th tee and double-decker stands on holes 17 and 18.
- Plus, Quail Hollow Club doubled the size of its back patio between the clubhouse and the pavilion after the 2022 Presidents Cup.
What's next: Starting in 2026, Charlotte will host the Truist Championship, previously the Wells Fargo Championship.
- The deal with Truist runs through 2031, and this year's Truist Championship is being held near Philadelphia while Charlotte hosts the PGA Championship.
