A quick look at the 17 bars and restaurants opening by the end of the year, sorted by neighborhood



There are a lot of fun places opening between now and the end of the year. From rooftop bars to French coffee shops, we’ll see a little bit of everything enter the Charlotte food and drink scene.

Here’s a list of what to look forward to, sorted by neighborhood.

South End

The Gin Mill 2.0

1423 South Tryon Street 
It’s the Gin Mill you know and love but on steroids with a rooftop bar and food. Opening next to their old space in the former Amos’ music hall in October.


1402 Winnifred Street
Get excited – it’s the area’s first self-serve craft beer and wine bar. Opening in October.

Lincoln’s Haberdashery

1300 South Boulevard
Created by Futo Buta chef Michael Sortino, this food market will come complete with craft beer, wine, a fast-casual menu and coffee. Opening in November.

235 West Tremont
A full-service restaurant and bar that will really give South End a legitimate cocktail joint with a patio and 2 a.m. closing. Opening in November.

Kimpton Tryon Park, 303 South Church Street
This fancy Italian restaurant will have an amazing sunken patio on 3rd Street. Opening in November.

Cantina 1511

5th & College
The local Mexican joint will add a new location in the former Blue Restaurant & Bar space Uptown. Opening in October.

Graham St. Pub & Patio

400 South Graham Street
This proper sports bar with a rooftop patio and killer views of Uptown has been off and on for months when it comes to construction, but will finally open in October.

JJ’s Red Hots

400 South Tryon, with an entrance on Church Street next to Rhino and b.Good
A more convenient Uptown location will be a welcome addition to your weekday lunch rotation. Opening in November.

Merchant & Trade

Kimpton Tryon Park, 303 South Church Street
All you need to know: Rooftop bar with food that’ll overlook Third Ward. Opening in November.

Parliament Espresso & Coffee Bar

300 South Tryon, entrance on 3rd Street
This fancy French coffee shop will open in November.

Plaza Midwood

Coaltrane’s Plaza Midwood

1518 Central Avenue
The Argentinian restaurant will add a Plaza Midwood location complete with a dope rooftop. Opening in November.

The Roasting Company

1332-A Central Avenue
The chain, with its rotisserie chicken, vegetables and classic Southern sides, is adding a Plaza Midwood location to its résumé (in addition to Montford and Rock Hill) this month.


The People’s Market

Scott Avenue and East Boulevard
The deli, café and bottle shop combination will be open in the former 131 Main location for breakfast, lunch and dinner in October.

The Queen & Glass

Scott Avenue and East Boulevard
The People’s Market’s sister cocktail bar concept coming to the heart of the Dilworth food and drink district. Opening in October.

The Rogue Irish Pub

1315 East Boulevard
Expect some serious Irish pub vibes complete with authentic bites and drinks in November.

And, coming in late 2017 if not early 2018:

South End

Bang Bang Bites

235 West Tremont
The new concept from Bang Bang Burgers will see sliders added to the staple’s repertoire.

Common Market South End

235 West Tremont
Common Market South End will be back in a new spot with a tricked-out patio.

Tandur Indian Kitchen

721 Governor Morrison Street
The Knoxville-based fast casual Indian restaurant chose Charlotte for its second location. The menu includes “saucy” entrées, wraps, salads and kebabs. Opening in December 2017 or January 2018.

The Daily Tavern

214 North Church Street 
The relaxed, tavern-style bar will offer craft brews and American fare.

Famous Toastery

330 South Tryon, entrance on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Toast – sorry, Famous Toastery, as it’s now called – will add an Uptown location.

Moo & Brew

3228 North Davidson
The same UNC Chapel Hill-loving bar, home to the $20 Large Marge bloody mary, will open in NoDa.

Stu’s Barrel House

In between 35th and 36th & Davidson
The owner of Jack Beagle’s is adding a super chill hangout bar with garage doors to bring in fresh air, a nice patio, beers and liquor to his résumé.

And, finally, coming in 2018:


The Crunkleton

7th Street & Pecan
Crunkleton, a private club that serves classic cocktails with modern twists, is making its way down from Chapel Hill.

Barcelona Wine Bar

Camden and Worthington
This wine and cocktail bar that will feature incredible décor and personality in a rustic yet modern setting.

Charlotte Beer Garden

Tryon & Catherine
The Raleigh Beer Garden is adding a sister location in Charlotte. The huge bar boasts the world’s largest draft beer selection under one roof, so expect to drink your way through 400+ taps at their Charlotte location.

South Mint Street
The all-in-one stop for pasta, pizza, sauces, breads, desserts and more is adding a third location in the spring.

AC Hotel Rooftop Bar

210 East Trade Street (EpiCentre)
The new, 22-story hotel under construction on top the EpiCentre will include a rooftop bar from McKibbon Hospitality and Peter Pollay, an Asheville-based chef.

That view, though.

Devon & Blakely

Bank of America Plaza
Fast-casual restaurant that specializes in soups, salads and sandwiches and includes a market component. Find it in the alley between the Bank of America building and Chima.

The Dresslers’ Uptown seafood project

135 Levine Avenue of the Arts
The husband and wife duo behind Dressler’s, Dogwood Southern Table & Bar and The Porter’s House snagged the former e2 emeril’s eatery spot in Uptown and will make it into a seafood joint, though there’s no name as of yet.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

Bank of America Plaza
This fancy seafood joint will include an amazing patio (plus, corporate money should ensure that it looks top notch).


Poplar & 3rd Street
William Dissen, known for Asheville’s The Market Place, is bringing farm-to-table flair to Third Ward. Look for it on the ground floor of the Ascent apartment building in January 2018.

World of Beer EpiCentre

210 East Trade Street, 2nd floor of EpiCentre
A casual bar with a full-service restaurant and staggering beer selection will add a new Uptown location.
