An established Mexican restaurant is adding a third location to its lineup.
Cantina 1511 will be taking over an 8,700-square-foot space at the corner of North College and East 5th Streets. The prime real estate was formerly occupied by Blue, an upscale restaurant known for its live jazz.
Additional Cantina 1511 locations are at Park Road Shopping Center and Stonecrest. The new Uptown restaurant at Hearst Tower is targeting a September 1 opening.

There’s no shortage of Mexican food on that particular block.
Cantina joins Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina and its casual spinoff Vida Vida, both located down the block at the EpiCentre.
Basically, margaritas for everyone.

If you were sad to see Blue go back in June, you’ll be happy to hear who the chef is at Cantina 1511.
Blue executive chef Gene Briggs will stay on along with additional Blue staff members to guide the direction of the new location.
