Boston residents walk about 1.5 miles a day on average, according to a new report from transportation data firm StreetLight.
What they found: Bostonians walked 530 miles per person in 2024, more than residents of 98 other large cities.
Boston's total is roughly 3.5 times the national average.
Between the lines: Only Orlando (653 miles) ranked higher than Boston, and that has more to do with Disneyland than Floridians' pedestrian tendencies.
The report says tourism likely boosts walking totals in places like Orlando and Anaheim, which ranks third.
Zoom out: The average American walked 151 miles in 2024.
Zoom in: Boston ranked second in the nation for walking per square mile, at more than 40,000 miles, behind only New York City.
It also ranked fourth for biking per square mile.
Per person, Boston ranked 11th for biking, at 40 miles a year.
The report lists the Public Garden as the busiest walking facility in Massachusetts and the Dr. Paul Dudley White Path, which runs along the river in Allston, as the busiest bike facility.
