Nor'easter caused fuel shipment delays at Logan Airport

Driving the news: Fuel ships didn't make it to Boston in time due to the nor'easter, Massport confirmed.

• The airport had enough fuel to last the weekend, but the consortium that managed Logan's jet fuel system asked airlines to bring extra fuel just in case, said Jennifer Mehigan, a Massport spokesperson.

Case in point: Delta Airlines brought extra fuel into Logan, a spokesperson said.

• For longer distances, some Delta flights added a stop to refuel.
• Hundreds of flights, including Delta flights, were canceled over the weekend and Monday, with most flights on schedule Tuesday.

The latest: The first of several fuel shipments arrived Monday, and another is due Tuesday, Mehigan said.

Context: Logan has experienced a series of travel disruptions in recent weeks, between the rain and a telecommunications outage that stemmed from a contractor mistakenly cutting a fiber cable in New Jersey.

• The airport's closure of Runway 27 for 75 days, starting late last month, may also cause delays.
