Cemetery book club returns for summer

Mount Auburn Cemetery is reviving its monthly book club, bringing readers back to the historic Cambridge grounds for discussions on literature, landscape and history.

Why it matters: Mount Auburn has a dual role as both a working cemetery and a public garden and cultural institution.

State of play: The club relaunched in May with a discussion of "Chasing Beauty: The Life of Isabella Stewart Gardner" by Natalie Dykstra.

That book drew more than 30 participants who capped the meeting with a visit to Gardner's mausoleum on the grounds.

What's next: The next session is June 10 at 2pm at Story Chapel, featuring Helen Macdonald's grief memoir "H is for Hawk."

Upcoming picks include "The Dante Club" (July 8), "Stiff" by Mary Roach (Aug. 12) and "The Camera Does the Rest" (Sept. 9).
