Logan's Framingham remote terminal opens

• Rather than battling long lines, travelers clear TSA in Framingham, check bags and are dropped off near their gate at Logan.

Zoom in: It's open to Delta and JetBlue passengers on flights departing from 5:30am to 4pm.

• Tickets are $9 each way, the same as the existing Logan Express fare. Kids ride free.
• The pilot program runs through the end of August.
• Ground-access fees provide the $2.5 million funding for the program.

Between the lines: There are similar airport bus services in Philadelphia and Chicago, but this is the first time a TSA screening shuttle will originate at a non-airport facility, according to Massport.

What's next: If the three-month pilot works out, Massport might extend the model to other Logan Express locations in Braintree, Danvers and Woburn.
