The Pittsburgh Zoo is trading Frankie, a 7-year-old male western lowland gorilla, to Boston's Franklin Park Zoo in exchange for Little Joe, a 33-year-old silverback.
Pittsburgh sports reporters joked online that their zoo was making a savvy shift into "win-now mode."
Reality check: The exchange is about allowing Frankie to join a bachelor group before he reaches mating age and to increase genetic diversity across all zoos, per TribLive.
