Half of Spotify's top 10 podcasters have Boston or New England roots

While Massachusetts doesn't have many music artists in Spotify's top 2025 categories, the Boston area and New England at large punch way above our weight when it comes to fostering podcasters.

Why it matters: Half of the top ten podcasters on Spotify's top ten list have strong Boston or New England connections.

Joe Rogan, love him or hate him, is still the platform's top podcaster. He grew up all over, but graduated from Newton South High School.
Legal podcaster Mel Robbins took the third spot. She went to Dartmouth and got her JD from BC Law.
Call Her Daddy (#4) host Alex Cooper is a BU alum.
The New York Times' The Daily (#8) host Michael Barbaro is in from New Haven. And co-creator Lisa Tobin spent years at WBUR before jumping to the Times.
The 10th-most-popular podcast on Spotify belongs to Burlington native Amy Poehler.
