A Boston bar has converted into a "Survivor"-themed cafe, with games modeled after the reality TV show for fans to try.
The intrigue: If you've ever thought of competing in the show, the "Survivor" cafe that's taken over the Greatest Bar on Friend Street is the next best thing.
Zoom in: A quintessential survivor game tests contestants to the max and is fun to watch, says John Kerhoffer, head of the "Survivor" challenge department.
- The native New Englander has been with the show since its inception in 2000 and seen dozens of challenge ideas come and go.
- "Our favorite, because it's the best for TV, is when there's a come-from-behind victory," he added.
The latest: The crew will unveil a new challenge this season that involves scooping a ball out of a cage with two long spoons.
- A version of that is up at the cafe.
If you go: The pop-up runs through Nov. 9 with ticketed reservations, watch parties and "Survivor After Dark" events.
Steph's thought bubble: The games are harder than they look.
- I got the ball out of the cage on the first try, but lost the other challenges almost immediately.
