The MBTA is closing sections of at least three train lines this month for repairs, forcing commuters to have to navigate chaotic shuttles and transfers.
One alternative open to many commuters is a bikeshare credit.
State of play: Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA, which sponsors Bluebikes, is offering a $20 credit for commuters to use the bikeshare during T service disruptions.
What to do: Use the code BLUECROSSMAMBTA3 in the Bluebikes app. The code is good for 12 months.
The credits can be used for manual and e-bikes across 13 municipalities: Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, Everett, Revere, Watertown, Malden, Medford, Newton, Arlington and Salem.
When to use it: The Green Line's D branch is running on shuttle service until Sept. 11 due to track work.
The Orange Line will suspend service between Forest Hills and North Station next weekend, as well as Sept. 27-28. (The MBTA suggested commuters shuttle to Back Bay and take the Green Line to North Station.)
The Orange Line is also closing at Jackson Square Sept. 20 and Sept. 21 for accessibility upgrades.
The Blue Line is closing between the Bowdoin and Airport stops from Sept. 19 to Sept. 21 for maintenance. Shuttles will be available between Haymarket and Airport.
