Boston's favorite sports statue, crowned

We've been asking readers all week which local sports statue should be named Boston's best.

Why it matters: After three rounds of voting, we have a winner: "Teammates," the lineup of 1940's-era Red Sox stars Bobby Doerr, Dom DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky and Ted Williams, got 58.7% of the vote in the final round.

The bronze statue, located outside Fenway Park's Gate B on the corner of Van Ness and Ipswich Streets, honors the friends who played together for seven seasons.

Of note: The Sox beat out the statue of Bobby Orr's iconic post-goal jump in the final one-on-one of our reader survey.

The new statue of Tom Brady outside Gillette Stadium lost in the first round of voting to the solo Ted Williams statue not far from "Teammates."
