Amtrak station guide: Philadelphia's 30th Street Station

• But aside from convenient connections to the city's public transit lines, the Philly Amtrak station has few amenities.

Where to eat: There are two Pret A Mangers, one Hudson News, a salad vending machine and, thank God, two Dunkins within the station. That's it.

• Try Cucina Zapata, a Mexican restaurant a block away.

Where to wait: 30th Street Station has lots of large wooden benches throughout the concourse that are within sight of the platform entrances and ticket counters.

Where to work: Though there's plenty of seating, there are no laptop-friendly surfaces. The Wi-Fi options are very limited as well.

Where to wee: The bathrooms are big, but they've seen better days and they're hardly kept up to the standard set in places like New York's pristine Moynihan Train Hall. (More on that later this week.)

What's next: The station's food court and south concourse are undergoing a $550 million renovation set to open next year. Here's hoping there's more than just a third Dunkin.
