The Ice Bucket Challenge ALS research campaign is celebrating ten years by taking on the biggest bucket there is: the Atlantic Ocean.
Why it matters: Over the last ten years, the Ice Bucket Challenge showed that charity campaigns can go viral in a big way.
They've raised $250 million dollars and involved everyone from President Barack Obama to Taylor Swift.
Driving the News: Supporters are set to douse themselves and leap into the sea Dec. 28, what would have been the 40th birthday of campaign founder Pete Frates, who died of ALS in 2019.
Registration for the Plunge 4 Pete is at 10:30am before the 12:30pm plunge straight into the water at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester.
The post-plunge celebration will be at Bass Rocks Country Club.
