Carvana ramps up retail operations in Boston area

Catch up quick: Carvana, which acquired the used-car auction business ADESA in 2022, is converting ADESA’s wholesale auction sites into “Megasites” in Kansas City, Las Vegas and other cities.

• The “Megasites” will handle both wholesale and retail vehicles and introduce more rigorous inspection and reconditioning processes.

Driving the news: The Framingham site, called ADESA Boston, is becoming a “Megasite.”

• The company expects to hire 200 new jobs for the “Megasite” and has started hiring.
• The site will scale up to sell hundreds, and eventually thousands, of cars with a wider selection for Boston-area customers, says Mike Caggiano, executive vice president of U.S. operations for ADESA.
