Timing matters if you're shopping on Christmas Eve.
The big picture: Many retailers are operating with reduced hours on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day, including Walmart, Best Buy and Macy's. Store and curbside pickup hours can vary by location.

Ordering last-minute Christmas gifts
Zoom in: If you want to avoid crowded malls and parking headaches, there's still time to order online. Major retailers are offering same-day pickup, and on-demand services including Instacart, Shipt, DoorDash and Uber are delivering Wednesday.
- Walmart is offering express delivery "in as fast as one hour" on orders placed by 5pm Wednesday local time.
- Target says same-day delivery orders must be placed by 3pm local time, with Drive Up pickup available until 6pm.
- Amazon says it has millions of items available for same-day Christmas Eve delivery in more than 9,000 U.S. cities and towns.
