Giuliani satisfies judgment in Georgia election workers' defamation case

Rudy Giuliani, ex-lawyer to President Trump, had settlement action against him dismissed in district court on Monday after he "fully satisfied" the judgment against him for defaming two Georgia election workers.

The big picture: The former New York City mayor reached a $148 million settlement with Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss in January after twice being found in contempt of court for continuing to defame the Fulton County election workers and for failing to provide financial details related to the judgement.

State of play: The mother and daughter accused Giuliani in a December 2021 lawsuit of falsely claiming repeatedly that they committed ballot fraud in the 2020 election.

A jury later found Giuliani liable for defamation, civil conspiracy and intentional infliction of emotional distress caused to Freeman and Moss and he later was embroiled in litigation with them over which of his properties and belongings to hand over to them as part of the case.
The terms of the compensation were not disclosed.
