Trump imposes sanctions on International Criminal Court over Israel probe

• Neither the U.S. nor Israel recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC, which has issued an arrest warrant for a Hamas leader and Israeli officials including Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Gaza.

Driving the news: "The ICC's recent actions against Israel and the United States set a dangerous precedent, directly endangering current and former United States personnel, including active service members of the Armed Forces, by exposing them to harassment, abuse, and possible arrest," Trump said in his order.

• "The United States will impose tangible and significant consequences on those responsible for the ICC's transgressions, some of which may include the blocking of property and assets, as well as the suspension of entry into the United States of ICC officials, employees, and agents, as well as their immediate family members, as their entry into our Nation would be detrimental to the interests of the United State," he said.

The ICC condemned the order in a statement, saying it "stands firmly by its personnel and pledges to continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities across the world, in all Situations before it."

• It continued: "We call on our 125 States Parties, civil society and all nations of the world to stand united for justice and fundamental human rights."
